About Us

Supportline Women’s Refuge is funded by a variety of sources, our main funder being Child Youth and Family. We provide CYFS with quarterly monitoring reports, and once a year an audit is done by Child Youth and Family. We also receive funding from:

  • Lotteries
  • Community Organisation Grants Scheme
  • Local Councils
  • Penney Patel Law
  • ASB Trusts

The above are our major funders, but we also receive help and support from the Mt Albert Lions, Rotarians, St Lukes Parish, and not forgetting all the other organisations and individuals, too numerous to mention who have so generously given us donations of both cash, food, household items, furniture etc. If you would like to help, please feel free to contact us.

Supportline Women’s Refuge provides temporary accommodation in a secure, violence free environment. Refuge workers will not disclose information about residents to anyone outside the Refuge without their consent.

Living is communal with shared bathroom and kitchen facilities, however, families have their own bedrooms.

There is a low rent and bond payable. Refuge staff are available to assist with benefit applications, emergency food, clothing needs, etc.

Childcare Facilities:

At the Refuge we have a large playroom for the children. Children are looked after in the playroom whilst mothers attend the various groups that are provided at the Refuge.

Educational Groups:

Supportline Women’s Refuge provides educational groups which our clients are required to attend:

  • Parenting
  • Breaking The Cycle
  • One to one counselling
  • Aromatherapy massage
  • Basic life skills

A number of our children are referred to family violence programmes, as for children growing up in a violent home it is a terrifying and traumatic experience that can affect every aspect of a child’s life, growth and development. Most people recognize the grave harm that domestic violence causes to women who are abused, but too little attention has been paid to the harm suffered by thousands of children who witness domestic abuse.
